HOW TO INSTALL A
MANITOU
FIT KIT
MANITOU
FIT KIT
The Manitou Mastodon fork has a unique design that requires a couple extra steps compared to a standard axle swap. Follow the steps below and you’ll be ready to carry whatever gear you’d like on you Manitou Mastodon fork.
TOOLS NEEDED:
- Pin-spanner or Manitou Pin Tool
- 6mm hex
- Torque wrench
- Grease
STEP 1: REMOVE THE STOCK AXLE
Use the 4-pin Manitou tool or a pin spanner to remove the Hexlock bolt retainer.

Now use a 6mm hex to remove the HexLock bolt and spacer.

With those pieces removed you can slide the axle out. Set it and the HexLock aside. You will still use the retainer and spacer with the Old Man Mountain Fit Kit.

STEP 2: INSTALL THE OMM HEXLOCK BOLT
Place the spacer onto the threaded side of the Old Man Mountain supplied HexLock bolt as shown below. Insert the bolt and spacer into the fork bolt side first.

Thread in the retainer by hand to ensure that it is not cross threaded. Once started, use a pin spanner or the Manitou retainer tool to tighten the retainer to 6nm.

You can now install your wheel and axle like normal.
