The Hemlock bags with flip cages are genius and I look forward to using them on my expanded Northern Tier Route to support Hospice Care starting mid-Summer 2025. I’ve only used them on a couple of training rides so far and have them secured to OMM flip cages that mount to my front Elkorn rack. So far, these bags appear to be bombproof and there are no rattling noises while riding like one would typically experience with pannier bags I use on my rear Divide rack. Securing & removing the bags is extremely quick and I look forward using them on my upcoming tour across America.

Dang! These bags are soooooo nice. It was so easy to get them on and off at different stops and they are so well constructed. The waterproof bags were clutch when the rain slammed us one day. I’m so happy with all of my Old Man Mountain gear.

The FLiP system is stellar! The more I go bikepacking, the more I try and optimize my setup for ease of use. Taking bags on and off the bike is super quick and the attachment is very reliable. The waterproof material is also an added bonus for those river and creek crossings.

I got the 7L Hemlock in Spring 2025 for touring and the occassional bikepacking weekends mostly in Europe. I mounted them on the Tailfin rack because the rack and FLiP cages pack flat with my Bike Friday in the suitcase for flights. Each Hemlock pairs perfectly with Thule compression packing cubes leaving plenty of space left over for rain gear, repair kit, cookset and a bit of food, toilet kit, and my electrics. Plus, the rack top is free for strapdown gear/food/water, or sleep kit. I used this setup on a 10-day thru the Alps trip and did not want for anything and kept things relatively light weight. The low profile helps with hike-a-bike, and the easy removal makes it a snap to put them both in my front Ortleib basket for off the bike moves. I like that there was ZERO play/noise in the mounting, especially on gravel descents. Overall, a great blend of size, capacity, and durability for my trips.
