Bikepacking.com Gear of the Year badge for 2024.

Old Man Mountain Axle Pack is unlike any fork mount adapter you’ve seen. Rather than trying to clamp to round or tapered surfaces and just hope it doesn’t slip or spin, Axle Pack is, you guessed it: Thru Axle mounted! Attaching to the axle makes it impossible to slip or spin.

Axle Pack is lightweight, reliable, robust, and rigid. With four mounting points you can also choose to run your gear higher or lower depending on your needs.

Mounted to one of our Fit Kits, Axle pack is also easily swappable with any of our racks so you can pack the right gear for the ride.

Have a carbon road bike? Perfect! Suspension fork? Perfect! Aluminum bike but you don’t trust the rivnuts? We’ve got it! Long story short, if you have a thru axle fork, we have an Axle Pack ready for you.

Axle Pack requires a Thru Axle Fit Kit to attach to a fork. After you add the Axle Pack to your cart you can use this Fit Finder to get the correct Thru Axle Fit Kit. (Not compatible with QR skewers)

Lightweight and Reliable!

Axle Pack is built to suit your needs, carrying you gear on any fork. Let’s get into the details and specs.

  • Fits any fork using our thru axle Fit Kits.
  • Made from 6061 aluminum, Axle Pack is lightweight, stiff, and strong.
  • A svelte 73g per side.
  • It securely mounts to our axle studs.
  • Cannot slide down or rotate around the fork legs.
  • It can carry a lot more than a fork that has 3-pack mounts.

    • Most bike’s mounts are rated to just 1.5kg each! Add to that low weight limit, the possibility of an impact to the bags on a tree or rock and you have a fair chance of ripping the eyelets out of your fork, especially a carbon fork.
  • Axle Pack is rated to 10kg per pair!
  • Made in Taiwan.
  • Lifetime warranty!

Fantastic addition for the carbon road bike I use for travelling, bikepacking style. It will take the hassle out of trying to attach the bags I need when I am camping and have too much stuff to pack it only ine the frame and in the rear stand.
    5 stars well deserved !

What a great addition to my road carbon bike. It will allow me to rationalize my bikepacking, offering me easy to use extra space.

The versatility and posibilities of different mount configurations these offer once on the bike make them sooooo worth it. Perfect for bikepacking setups with supension forks.

I rode around the world with an older set of OMM Pioneer and Sherpa rackSs on my quick release Surly bike. Worked flawlessly. Then recently I bought a full suspension bike with thruaxels. With a new axel kit and support beams I was able to move my old rack to my new bike. Still working flawlessly.

I couldn’t locate my bike in their configuration tool. OMM offers other guidance as well so I measured everything and selected what I thought I needed. I emailed my order number and bike build sheet to OMM customer service and asked them to confirm my order is correct. They replied that the part I ordered would work but there was a better option that would be a bit better fit. ..and it was less expensive. I appreciate their integrity and excellent customer service. Their kits are solid and allowed me to strap WAY too much stuff to my bike. Great products and amazing customer service!

I purchased these for use on a set of carbon forks that lacked mounting points. Very easy to install and remove so I just use them when traveling. I just leave the mounting pucks/ hardware on the fork legs and swap thru axles and bolt them right up. They are incredibly solid once tightened down and are actually way more solid than fork mounts that I have use on other carbon adventure style forks. The fit kit works perfectly and also works nicely with my Elkhorn rack and basket up front for bigger loads. Good stuff.

We’ve been running these for about a year now. We bought them initially for a month long bikepacking trip around Finland and since then have used them on several trips around Scotland offroading on some very varied terrain. They’ve been absolutely rock solid across all of that. There’s a tiny bit more faff when taking the front wheel off (no more than about 30 seconds or so) and that’s a small price to pay for what in my opinion is an absolute genius piece of design. Much recommended!

Excellent product! I love how sturdy they are and the axle mounting system. Love being able to use fork panniers with a shock! Absolutely bombproof! Quick delivery also. Thank you!

Doing my first bike touring trip from Amsterdam to Bucharest on an Ibis Hakka MX, that does not have mountain hardware for front panniers. Originally purchased another product for the front fork, and they failed spectacularly on a “check out” trip before leaving for Europe. A friend told me about the axle mount.Ordered them express delivery, and old man mountain delivered! Easy to install, and they have been rock solid for 800 miles so far , and my Ortlieb panniers are totally secure. Fantastic design, and a great solution for the Ibis Hakka!

Bought to turn my full suspension mountain bike into a bike packing rig, and it’s perfect. It’s super quick to mount and works great for adding storage for extra bottles, or mini panniers. The 4 bolt mounting is perfect for mini panniers under 5L since you can mount them high to keep them out of the way of rocks and other obstacles on the trail. The mounts are perfect for a set and forget setup since they weight almost nothing and add so much extra mounting especially with modern mountain bikes shifting to only one bottle mount. The only downside is that when you load up a suspension fork with almost 10Lbs it does handle a little worse but if you keep it light its not noticeable.
