For many years we have sold the Classic rack as the Sherpa rack. We chose the name in reference to Sherpas’ roles as porters not realizing it was the name of a people. It’s time we retire this name, out of respect for indigenous people in the Himalayan region and around the world. We have this reference here to acknowledge our mistake and to let people know that this is the same rack with a different name.

Very happy with the quality of the Sherpa Rack, specifically its design, strength and components. Everything just comes together perfectly. The instructions are very clear. The various fasteners are well marked and are referred to in the instructions for exactly where they are to be used. I bought one Sherpa Rack for my wife’s Specialized Stumpjumper and was so impressed that after installing it on her bike, I bought one for my Trek Fuel EX7. The racks turn these mountain bikes into true adventure bikes, making it easy to add panniers, strap additional gear on top of the rack, and then head off for the hills.

Great to hear all this, thanks!

Just fitted the Sherpa to my Haibike Sduro e-bike to make it a true dual purpose bike now and couldn’t be more happy with the result. Great Q&A with OMM prior to purchase and shipped to the UK really quickly. This a quality built rack, secure and stable on the bike. with clear instructions to make the fitting a relatively simple task. Being able to easily remove and refit is a big plus. Now to find an adventure I can do in a lockdown Covid world!

I’ve been around bicycling for a long time. In the past couple of years, I have “upgraded” to full suspension e-bikes to compensate a bit for increasing age and to continue my level of two-wheeled enjoyment. As part of that upgrade, I wanted to set my full suspension bikes up with front and rear racks for touring or bikepacking. In previous years, I have created my own rack systems which have worked well for front suspension. It always involved a time commitment and lots of tinkering around and trial and error to get it right. This time around, I opted to go with Old Man Mountain.

I am very impressed with the quality of the racks and fit-kits which OMM offers. After installing them on several different full and front suspension bikes, I am very pleased with the results, and with the quality of parts and installation instructions. Did I mention instillation instructions? The “new” series of video tutorials are wonderful and super easy to follow for fitting racks and fit kits. An aging and forgetful over-the-hill bike mechanic like me is particularly impressed with how well the video tutorials are done. Unlike the printed instructions, which I believe are a bit too brief and use too many unexplained esoteric hardware and part names for the average person to follow easily, the videos easily allow anyone with tool familiarity, or even the desire to expand their familiarity, to do a great installation job.

Well-done Old Man Mountain! Keep up the great work.

I received the OMM Classic Sherpa rack. I would just like to say that I am impressed and extremely pleased. It’s very well made, was easy to install and with minimal fuss. OMM provided great communication, and prompt shipping. Thanks again. Dean

I have owned several OMM racks over the years and mostly used them as a front rack for loaded touring. Front racks are inherently more complicated than rear racks since there are more variables to address as indicated by the sometimes huge bag of hardware you get with other front racks. Once you have the Sherpa set up, it’s easily a 5 minute job to remove or install. You don’t have to worry about fender or disc brake interference. I thought I would try a low rider rack again and immediately regretted it since I was having to relocate my fender stays and although the rack was made for the fork, the holes were not lining up and I was having to make modifications. Anyway, it reminded me why I bought my first OMM rack years ago.

Not a complaint but my only suggestion would be to offer a lower rail for getting your panniers lower. I would gladly pay bit more if they OMM offered this.

I received the OMM Sherpa rack a few days ago. I had a hard time finding a rear rack that would work well on a Surly Krampus. Well, I would just like to say that I am impressed and extremely pleased. It’s very well made, and was easy to install with minimal fuss. OMM provided great communication, and prompt shipping. Thanks again.

I have been using the Sherpa on my full suspension e-mountain bike for about a year and half now. I was thrilled to be able to carry everything I needed in the bags on the rear rack and get it all off my back. Great quality and service! Thank you. Kent

In my quest to convert my Specialized Camber Elite 29er into a fully capable commuter bike, I ordered the Sherpa Classic and what I thought was the correct kit kit. Shipping across the country was quick even during the holiday season and COVID. Upon receipt of the rack, I realized that I needed the QR skewer instead of the thru-axle that came with my fit kit. Customer service via email was extremely responsive in helping ensure I ordered the correct part I needed to complete installation. They even cut a custom length QR skewer (extra 10 cm) to account for fender stay attachments I was also planning on installing to make the bike fully commuter ready, and shipped just a quick across the country.

The Sherpa rack and all components are extremely well designed and made with high quality materials. My complete FSR MTB commuter setup is now complete and looks like it is an OEM factory build. I ended up not needing the extra 10cm skewer length because I discovered that the slots in the 5″ dropouts were actually perfect for attaching the SKS Bluemels 75 U long fender stays so that they are solidly attached to the rack itself as they were meant to be a single combined unit for carrying my panniers and keeping me dry.

Overall, I couldn’t have come up with a better quality and looking setup. This rack is top-notch and extremely versatile. While it would also fit nicely moved over to my road bike, I think both bikes are going to need their own Sherpa rack.

I purchased the rear Sherpa rack for my 2021 Giant Trance Pro eBike. The ordering process was excellent and staff were very helpful; responding to each email and question I had. The shipping was quick, even to Canada!!! I was able to install the rack very easily with the help of the video, it was easy and straightforward. This rack is sturdy, does not move, and looks great on the bike. After looking around at other options, there is clearly no other company making something like this. I am a happy customer!!!

I have had this rack for only a month but have used it on several rides already. I am truly impressed by Old Man Mountain and there Sherpa rack and fit kits. Ordering was easy, products shipped super fast, rack and fit kit was packaged professionally, instructions and videos made install easy, and the whole system is very solid. I use the Sherpa on my Trek Rail 7 as I use this bike for both mountain and urban riding. The rack holds my Ortlieb panniers full to the brim and I even carry a spare battery ontop of the rack. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase anything from OMM!

Ordering , install directions, rack design and performance all perfect. Axle system is ingenious. Too much packaging for shipping. I’m Interested in any products you are developing. Keep ’em coming. Ride on!!!

I have a front and rear Old Man Mountain rack on my BH Full Suspension Electric Mountain bike with a dropper post.

First of all, if you have a full suspension bike that did not come with a rack installed by the manufacturer, Old Man Mountain is really your only option for a rack. You could do a seatpost rack, but they are not stable carrying any amount of weight over any bumpy terrain. If you have a dropper post, the seatpost rack is out of the question. For the front – your options are even more limited. The OMM is really the only solution on the market.

I have put over 2000 miles on my OMM racks in the last year since I bought them, and they have been flawless. I hold about 30 pounds on the rear rack (spare eBike battery, heavy lock, tools, water, food, etc.), and about 15 pounds on the front rack (mostly changes of clothes). I ride my eBike at full speed over bumpy terrain, and the racks are built solid – like a rock. Electric bikepacking dreams come true. Never had an issue.

The racks pop on and off in a minute, so very easy to load onto your truck if needed.

The best part is the customer service – the team at OMM, especially Tory, are incredibly helpful in answering your questions. It is probably the single best customer service of any company in the entire bike industry.

My only suggestion is that OMM should be a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ so that I could own stock in the company.

Thank you for making such a great product.

I put this on my FS bike myself, (70 year old female),so anyone should be able to handle this! Love it so far with my Arkel panniers. I formerly used the sausage style bag but it sagged when full and wasn’t user friendly. Quality product.
